Object description :

"An Antwerp 17th Century Tortoiseshell And Ebony Cabinet"
This cabinet made with tortoiseshell ebony and ivory opens with 12 drawers and two doors revealing a theater. The drawers are decorated with concave tortoiseshell and surrounded by gilt brass on ebony background, underlined by ivory thread framing, tortoiseshell and curved mouldings.
Central doors are adorned with three ebony carved cariatides.
The door inner side is veneered with kingwood. Nine alcove drawers are also veneered with kingwood, underlined with ivory and framed by ebony mouldings. The alcove is composed of mirrors separated by ebonized wood columns and checkerboard ground made with kingwood and ivory.
