Important print, engraved chisel appearing in the collections of the Carnavalet Museum and listed by Gallica and Inha. Edited by Mr. Basset, prints dealer and manufacturer of wallpapers rue St Jacques, at the corner of the Mathurins. # 670. From the time Consulate, circa 1801-1802, this engraving with Masonic symbolism represents a double commemoration having taken place in 1801: in the first place the national holiday of July 14, 1801 (25 messidor year IX) organized in Paris by the architect Chalgrin in commemoration of the taking of the Bastille in 1789. Installations on the Champs-Elysées which were reused for the feast of the 1st vendémiaire of year X (September 23, 1801) for the celebrations of the anniversary of the founding of the Republic in 1792. In the middle of other entertainments such as animations on the Seine, the aerostat of Gamerin or concerts, the representation of this "Feast of July 14th year IX, view of the 3 Theaters built at the Champs Elysees in the Square Marigny ..." focuses on fairground games and theater with the background, radiating, the plume of a fireworks that blossoms in the sky forming a star in its center. A spectacular print worth as much historical as artistic.

Dimensions: 59 x 43 cm (with the frame) - 44,5cm x 28 cm at sight
