Writing case in blackened wood inlaid with mother of pearl and brass threads. It opens with two flaps revealing a letter holder and an inkwell with two buckets, tray trimmed with red velvet, carries a brass plate "Tahan in Paris", Napoleon III, state of use and lack of veneer inside on the amounts of the side, small slot on the top (see photo).
