Large Cartel And Its Base In Varnished Martin Louis XV Period
Very nice cartel of Louis XV period, with its base in varnished green martin. The cartel part is decorated with flowers, while the pedestal is decorated with a scene of Fable of La Fontaine "The Stork and the Fox". Superb trim of gilded bronzes decorated with flowers, acanthus leaves, seed beads with a winged bird on top. The dial is signed by Brachet at Versailles. The crate is stamped with Antoine Foullet (with Jurande stamp), a Parisian cabinetmaker who became a Master in 1756. He was established in the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and specialized in the manufacture of sheaths for cartels and regulators which he adorned with melted bronzes. Héban, rue des Arcis. He died in 1775. The movement is original, with wire, it rings the hour and the half on a stamp very brass crystalline. Supplied with its original key.
