Afghan Tchubi Carpet Mid 20th Century
Afghan Tchubi Carpet circa 1955 Fully Knitted Hand-Knitted Vegetable Tintings, Pure Wool, Size: 2.23mX1,77m Khal Mohammadi and Afghan Aqche are two of the most popular types of Afghan carpets. Khal Mohammadi are handknotted carpets by Turkmen in northern Afghanistan. Their main colors are the shades of dark red in its various shades. The motifs are the göl (pattern that looks like an elephant’s foot) and the octagon (figure with eight sides), often accompanied by stylized flowers in shades of dark blue, ochre and beige. The Aqche Afghan carpets are hand-knotted by Turkmen from Central and Northern Afghanistan. The velvet, warp and weft are made of wool, goat hair and, in some cases, horse crews.
