Marseille, 18th Century (robert Fruit Bowl)
Artist: Joseph Gaspard Robert
Hollow earthenware fruit bowl with a rocaille rim accented by a yellow border.
The side is decorated with various elements, including a "double arrow" that extends onto the rim.
The center of the bowl depicts a seaside scene (two fishermen: one standing, the other seated).
Polychrome “petit feu” decoration.
The reverse side features round, green-painted perettes on the rim, outlined in manganese.
On the base: 2 labels, one of which belongs to collector Christian BONNIN.
Enamel flaw.
This Marseille design, known as “double arrow,” is also found in the works of Veuve PERRIN and Gaspard ROBERT.
Certain characteristics distinguish them... for example, the round, green-painted pernettes outlined in manganese
are attributed to G. ROBERT
