Elegant French Crystal And Silver Carafe
An elegant French decanter in the Neo-Rococo style, dating from the late 19th century, circa 1890, crafted from cut crystal and 950 sterling silver.
The cut crystal body features a refined design of twisted gadroons. The silver neck is fitted with a hinged lid, topped by a handle sculpted with leaf and flower motifs, as well as a wide spout. The tall, elegantly arched handle is richly adorned with foliage.
The body rests on a raised silver base. The entire silver decoration features irregular fluting with a dotted pattern and finely chiseled foliage motifs.
The neck is adorned with an oval medallion engraved with an interlaced monogram and the date “April 1, 1892,” framed by a matching design.
The piece bears the Minerva head hallmark, certifying the silver’s 950 fineness, as well as the master silversmith’s mark of Henri Soufflot.
