French Art Deco Shell-shaped Lamp – 1930s/1940s
An exquisitely refined shell-shaped lamp made of translucent amber glass, a typical example of French Art Deco from the 1930s and 1940s. The surface features an elaborate, almost sculptural pattern of concentric waves and folds that enhances the warm, golden light diffused by the glass.
The glass is held in place by a silver-plated metal frame (nickel or pewter) consisting of three radial arms and a central disc with exposed screws—an element of great formal purity that evokes the elegant industrial aesthetic typical of French design of the period. A small original label is still present on one of the arms.
The deep amber color and the organic yet rigorously stylized shape make this lamp a piece of great character, capable of bringing a touch of Art Deco sophistication to contemporary or vintage interiors.
Ideal as a single piece or in pairs.
