Decorative Wooden Propeller

Decorative Wooden Propeller
This wooden propeller consists of two twisted blades. They are narrow at the base, near the central hub, flare out widely in the middle to create maximum lift, and end in a slender, smooth and rounded
The flamboyant, undulating lines of the wood grain are clearly visible along the entire length of the blades, a testament to the use of solid wood
It features a warm, glossy finish, with a vintage, weathered look
On the hub is a copper plaque bearing the inscription “To The Waterlooville RAFA Club Victoria from G. Turner & friends from Newbury”
It is therefore a gift to the Waterlooville RAFA Club Victoria, a branch of the Royal Air Forces Association in the United Kingdom
Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) clubs were established in large numbers immediately after World War II to serve as meeting places for veterans
The typeface on the copper plaque, the style of the screws, and the specific wording (“G. Turner & friends from Newbury”) are perfectly in keeping with the tradition of the 1950s or 1960s, when former Air Force friends would present such wooden display pieces to their local clubs
Some slight signs of wear on the varnish
