Théodore WEBER (1838–1907) – Official Painter to the Navy
Born in Leipzig in 1838 and died in Paris in 1907, Théodore Weber was a 19th-century Franco-German marine painter. A student of the famous Eugène Isabey, he distinguished himself through his remarkable depictions of seascapes, harbors, and ships, particularly along the Normandy coast.
Exhibiting at the Paris Salon as early as 1858, he achieved significant artistic recognition and became an Official Painter of the Navy in 1886. His works captivate viewers with their realism, the finesse of their execution, and his mastery of marine atmospheres, ranging from stormy skies to the play of light.
Today, his paintings bear witness to the great skill of 19th-century marine painters and are of genuine interest to collectors and enthusiasts of old master paintings.
