English Bookcase From 1880, Painted Black
English mahogany bookcase dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880.
The bookcase consists of two sections and features a glossy black finish added at a later date, which contrasts with the warmth of the mahogany wood on the inside. The upper section features two glass-paned doors with geometric muntins, characteristic of the English Chippendale style.
The lower section features two paneled doors, behind which lies a spacious interior equipped with adjustable shelves. The bookcase is topped by a molded cornice and rests on a closed base. Slight signs of wear consistent with its age.
Dimensions: 236 H x 126 W x 50 D
