925-th Sterling Silver Wine Cooler – Birmingham, England, 1903
925 sterling silver wine cooler – Birmingham, England, 1903
English 925 sterling silver wine cooler, made in Birmingham in 1903, featuring rich Rococo-style decoration.
Circular in shape and resting on a fluted pedestal, this ice bucket is distinguished by its elegant flared profile and abundant ornamentation of rocaille, volutes, and floral motifs.
The body is richly worked with large scalloped cartouches, adorned with interlocking motifs reminiscent of scales, framed by acanthus foliage, flowers, and scrollwork. The decoration, executed in relief on finely hammered backgrounds, creates a contrast with the smooth, polished surfaces of the silver.
The exterior decoration, created using the repoussé technique, naturally appears in relief on the inside of the bowl, with no additional decorative work on this side. The base is plain and polished, while the upper rim is highlighted by a rounded molding.
This wine cooler combines high-quality decorative craftsmanship with the generous proportions characteristic of English silverwork from the Edwardian period.
An elegant piece that can be used as a wine cooler, a decorative bowl, or a centerpiece.
