Mid-19th Century Oval Painting Of Bacchus
Elegant oval oil painting on a wooden panel, set
within a carved, gold-leaf-gilded wooden frame. The work depicts the god
Bacchus in the vibrant bloom of youth, wearing a wreath of grapevine tendrils
and grapes, and draped in a fur garment. He holds a tray with a goblet of wine,
his gaze directed toward the viewer. The meticulous attention to detail and the
elegant carvings of the frame lend the piece a distinct refinement and taste,
capable of adding an evocative, antique touch to any setting. Florentine craftsmanship,
mid-19th century.
