A Set Of 12 Maison Regain Chairs Selected By Charlotte Perriand
Set of 12 Maison Regain chairs, designed by Roland Haeusler, from the La Cascade residence in Les Arcs
Chairs with a distinctly Cubist design, created by Roland Haeusler (winner of the René Gabriel Prize in 1973) and produced by Maison Regain, in honey-stained solid wood. The backrest, formed by two wide horizontal crossbars, and the seat, split into two slightly curved, adjoining slats, create a geometric and streamlined silhouette typical of the formal vocabulary of 1960s–1970s mountain architecture. The straight legs and uprights, assembled without embellishment, reinforce this architectural interpretation of the chair.
These chairs are part of the furnishings of La Cascade, a complex of terraced apartments in the Les Arcs 1600 ski resort in Savoie.
This piece was selected by Charlotte Perriand in 1969 to furnish her vacation homes, alongside other Haeusler designs chosen for the entire site. It is thus part of the grand adventure of developing Les Arcs, an iconic project in French mountain design spearheaded by Perriand.
