Coffee Table With A Removable Cabaret-style Top Made Of Lacquered Wood
Lacquered wooden coffee table with Chinese motifs. 20th century. Made in the 1950s. It rests on four curved legs. Its four sides are multi-lobed and feature a wide gilded molding along the top. The top tray is removable, revealing a second tray, also made of lacquered wood. The entire design draws inspiration from 18th-century Chinese lacquerware, featuring motifs of birds, rocks, peony flowers, cherry blossoms, magnolias, various grasses and foliage, as well as a butterfly, all set against a black background. The top tray is adorned with two gold borders around the edge.
