Living Room Tea Table With Two Handles, Featuring Japanese-style Decoration—made Of Light Wood, Late 19th Century

A plum-colored painted wooden tea table with Japanese-style decorations on the tabletop; its overall shape evokes the Louis XV period.

This small side table features a rectangular top with scalloped, raised edges, adorned with two handles, resting on a curved Louis XV-style base. The tabletop’s design features three cranes flying over a lakeside landscape, rendered in golden yellow on a plum-colored background; some elements are slightly raised in relief. The proportions and lightness of the piece are designed to make it easily portable and suitable for placement anywhere.

This piece can be dated to the late 19th century; the use of Asian motifs combined with European forms reflects a distinct taste among the public at the turn of the century.

The overall condition is good; the structure is solid. There are signs of impact and small chips on the tabletop, and the paint is worn at the bottom of the four legs.
