Albert Ferdinand DUPRAT 1882 / 1974
Born in Venice, Post-Impressionist landscape painter
Albert Duprat studied at the School of Fine Arts in Venice, his hometown. His works reveal his love for Italy and, in particular, for Venice, which is constantly depicted in his paintings with canals, monuments, and splendid views of the lagoon.
With great skill, inspired by late 19th-century French painting, he depicted views of the city in twilight.
A painter of light, his renderings of the sky’s reflections on the water display remarkable dexterity and realism.
Later, Duprat also settled in Paris, where he chose to paint the Seine and its bridges; there, his extraordinary ability to depict the reflections of light on the water found expression in broader and more luminous panoramas.
