Modern Painting View Of The Broken Bridge In Rome XX Century
Oil on canvas.
This is a copy of the painting created in 1696 by the Dutch painter Jacob De Heusch (1657–1701), which is housed at the Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum in Braunschweig, Germany.
The work was replicated several times in the period following its creation, but the copy presented here is a recent production that has undergone a “baking” treatment and been painted with varnishes to give it an antique appearance and make it consistent with the original work.
Furthermore, it has been correctly signed in the lower right corner by the artist who created the replica.
The painting depicts a view of the Tiber River near the Tiber Island, featuring the ruins of the famous Ponte Rotto (the ancient Pons Aemilius), and numerous ordinary people engaged in their daily activities.
It is presented in a period-style frame.
