Empire-style Clock In Gilded Bronze
A lovely gilded and patinated bronze clock from the Empire period. This clock is in its original condition. The gilding and the brown patina on the bronze are original. The clock has only been cleaned to give it a little more luster.
It depicts Hebe, the goddess of youth, vitality, and vigor—daughter of Zeus and Hera, and sister of Ares.
The clock’s dial is made of gilded bronze with white enamel, which is quite rare. The figure’s brown patina adds richness to this clock.
This model also exists entirely in gilded bronze, but it is more common than the model shown here. This clock is in working condition; it includes the key and the pendulum. It features a wire-driven movement.
