18th-century George III-period Mahogany Chippendale Armchair
Handsome George III Period 18th-Century Mahogany Chippendale Armchair
A very fine late 18th-century George III period Chippendale Cuban mahogany armchair, featuring a shaped crest rail with carved 'C' scroll ends above a wide, carved, pierced splat, and bold, outward-curving arms. The burgundy leather-upholstered seat is supported by molded Marlborough legs, all joined by traditional “H”-shaped stretchers. The seat height is 48 cm. Generously proportioned, this armchair offers both comfort and aesthetic appeal, retaining its original color and patina on the frames and ensuring it stands out in any setting.
In good condition and crafted in England circa 1780, this armchair is not only highly functional but also a superb example of Georgian craftsmanship and design.
