Antique Ebonized Wooden Display Case From The 17th Century H.87 Cm

The object pictured is a Baroque ebony-stained wooden shrine (or clock case/display case) dating from the 17th–18th centuries. It is a typical decorative miniature architectural structure commonly found in the antique market, primarily in Italy (particularly from the Florentine or Turin schools).
• Style and Architecture: It displays a strong Baroque influence with a portal-style structure, characterized by two prominent twisted columns (torchon) on either side and a broken pediment at the top.
• Material: It is made of ebonized wood (wood stained black to imitate precious ebony), a finish that was very popular between the 17th and 18th centuries for fine furniture, freestanding clock cases (pendulum clocks), or reliquaries.
• Condition: The structure appears to be original to the period but shows obvious signs of wear and missing parts: decorative elements (such as the pinnacles or the finials that originally crowned the pediment) are missing.
It is a highly charming collector’s piece that, if properly restored, possesses great historical and decorative value.
