Legras Art Nouveau Enameled Glass Vase With Cyclamen Flowers By Montjoye, 26 Cm
LEGRAS – MONtJOYE – Art Nouveau Vase, circa 1900 – Green glass enamelled with cyclamen and gilded – 25 cm
Art Nouveau vase attributed to François-Théodore Legras, Saint-Denis factory, Montjoye production, circa 1890/1900. Emerald-green, quadrangular-shaped glass with polychrome enamel and gilded decoration.
The decoration features cyclamen flowers with pink and white petals, accompanied by long, sinuous stems and pale green foliage. The various sides are adorned with large gilded arabesques, combining foliage, plant motifs, and small stylized flowers.
The quality of the design, the delicacy of the gilded ornamentation, and the slightly raised enamel work are characteristic of the decorative repertoire of the Legras-Montjoye factory in the late 19th century. The botanical composition follows the lines of the vase in the spirit of French Art Nouveau.
