Louis XVI Style Oval Pedestal Table Circa 1900, Walnut And Languedoc Marble Elegant Pedestal Table Ov
Louis XVI-style oval pedestal table circa 1900, walnut and Languedoc marble
Elegant oval walnut pedestal table in the Louis XVI style, French work from the late 19th or very early 20th century. It stands on four tapered, fluted legs, joined by an X-shaped brace centered on a carved motif. The openwork, molded belt, punctuated by dice adorned with florets, finely reproduces the neoclassical vocabulary. The top is trimmed with a beautiful red marble top, with a rich warm background and light chips, Languedoc or Caunes-Minervois.
The piece is seductive for the quality of its proportions and the balance between the architectural sobriety of the base and the decorative effect of the top. The marble brings a very strong visual presence, with this network of light fragments on a deep red background that enlivens the surface without heaviness. This is well-designed, decorative Louis XVI-style furniture, easy to integrate into a classic, bourgeois or eclectic interior. A small piece of furniture that gets the job done without chatter, with true French elegance.
Good overall condition. Marble top in good presentation condition. Structurally sound and stable. Normal wear, rubbing and minor use marks on wood and patina, commensurate with age. See photos.
