19th-century Provençal Rural Scene, "la Pouzarenque"
Painting on a wooden panel (mahogany). Depicting a Provençal landscape scene with a “pouzarenque” in the center. This Occitan word refers to a well whose mechanism is powered by a draft animal.
The vegetation is lush thanks to the presence of water. The stone well curb is clearly visible, as is the wheel mechanism powered by a harnessed mule. You can see the water gushing out!
This painting is presented in its original 19th-century gilded scrollwork frame. The panel is signed in the lower right corner, but I have not been able to identify the artist.

Frame dimensions: 46.5 x 34 cm
