Vintage Audemars Piguet 18K Yellow Gold Diamond Skeleton Wristwatch, circa 1980s

An exceptional vintage Audemars Piguet open-worked skeleton wristwatch, dating to circa the 1980s and crafted in 18-karat yellow gold, with an impressive double-row diamond-set surround.

The watch features an intricately skeletonized and hand-engraved mechanical movement, allowing the remarkable arrangement of wheels, bridges, jewels and escapement to remain visible through the dial. The elaborate gold openwork creates an exceptionally decorative appearance while showcasing the traditional watchmaking craftsmanship for which Audemars Piguet is renowned.

Surrounding the skeletonized dial are two concentric rows of brilliant-cut diamonds, individually set into the gold surround. The diamonds provide a striking contrast against the richly coloured yellow gold while retaining the elegant proportions of the approximately 32 mm case.

Fine black hands provide excellent contrast against the open-worked movement.

The watch is fitted with a distinctive red leather strap, giving the piece a particularly sophisticated vintage appearance.
