Edwardian Sterling Silver Penguin Menu Card Holders, Set Of Four, Original Box
Edwardian Sterling Silver Penguin Menu Card Holders, Set of Four, Original Box
A charming set of four Edwardian sterling silver menu or place card holders, each displaying a miniature painting of a penguin in a pale blue and white landscape. The penguins are shown in different poses, giving each holder its own character while retaining the appeal of a matching set.
Each painting sits beneath a domed glass lens within a circular silver frame. A card clip is fitted to the reverse, and two curved feet allow the holder to stand on the table. The reverse bears the GY&Co maker’s mark, sterling silver hallmarks and registered design number Rd 473072.
The four holders are presented in their fitted, hinged case, lined with cream velvet and silk. The inside lid carries the gold foil retailer’s stamp of Wilson & Gill, Regent Street. A delightful and unusually complete set for an elegant dining table or a collector of Edwardian silver.
