Louis XV-era Equation Regulator Clock
Parquetclock, circa 1765, with a case in satinwood marquetry decorated withscrollwork and tone-on-tone fillet work. Movement by Jean François CHAROST,displaying true time and mean time, with the date of the month ina window at six o’clock, hours and minutes in the center, andseconds at noon. Heavy balance wheel on a steel stem, knife-typesuspension, and a large-anchor escapement. Both thecase and the movement are of very high quality. In goodused condition, in need of restoration.
