An elegant, egg-shaped vase from the French crystal manufacturer Saint-Louis, dating from the 20th-century Art Deco period.
This clear crystal vase is also covered with a second layer of red, as well as a geometric frieze and vertical ribs.
The mark is located on the bottom of the vase.
In glass and crystalware, overlay crystal (sometimes called doubled or plated crystal) involves layering two or more layers of crystal in different colors. It was very popular in the 19th century (during the Art Nouveau period, the Empire style, or under the influence of the Ottoman Empire).
