Giuseppe Cappè – Figure With An Umbrella

umbrellaA polychrome porcelain sculpture by the sculptor Giuseppe Cappè (1921–2008), depicting a characteristic folk figure sitting under an umbrella, captured during a moment of rest. The composition is particularly lively and rich in detail: the figure, dressed in worn and patched clothing, holds food in his hand, while a bottle, cold cuts, and other items are arranged beside him, completing the scene. The strongly characterized facial expression, the ironic pose, and the meticulous rendering of details are typical of Cappè’s work; he is known for his genre figures with a humorous and caricatured tone. The porcelain work is particularly well-executed, with different finishes and color tones that highlight the fabrics, the complexion, the umbrella, and the numerous small details of the composition. The base is embellished with gilded decorative elements. A delightful sculpture that is highly representative of Giuseppe Cappè’s figurative work. Dimensions: Width: 23 cm Height: 17 cm Depth: 17 cm
