A student of Vaudoyer, Louis-Marie Lanté was a painter who exhibited, notably, at the Salons from 1824 to 1838. He won a silver medal in Lille in 1825. Above all, he was the most prolific illustrator for the famous Journal des Dames et des Modes, for which he drew fashion figures in watercolor that were then engraved by the fashion magazine’s engravers, including Georges-Jacques Gatine.
