Louis XV-style Flat-topped Desk, 18th Century
Louis XV Flat Desk – 18th Century
Elegant Louis XV-era flat desk from the 18th century, featuring two belt-style drawers on the front, arranged on either side of an elegant central projection.
The piece features a generously scalloped band with soft, flowing contours, perfectly highlighting the Rocaille aesthetic of the mid-18th century. The top, with its softened corners and slightly undulating shape, is upholstered in burgundy-red leather with gold piping, providing a particularly refined writing surface.
The front and sides are adorned with a beautiful precious wood veneer, whose grain is arranged in symmetrical panels and admirably highlights the piece’s flowing lines.
The two drawers are adorned with gilded bronze lock plates featuring rocaille motifs, adding an elegant decorative touch.
The piece rests on four curved legs, characteristic of Louis XV furniture, topped with small gilded bronze feet.
A particularly elegant piece of furniture thanks to the fluidity of its lines, the richness of its veneer, and its gilded bronze decoration, perfectly representative of the art of French furniture under Louis XV.
