A beautiful sculptural composition depicting a grinning satyr mask flanked by two putti, foliage, volutes, and fantastical motifs characteristic of the Neo-Renaissance decorative repertoire.
Period: 19th century, Napoleon III era, circa 1860–1890.
Heavy, finely detailed cast bronze with an antique patina that remarkably highlights the relief of the decoration.
Condition: Good condition, as found; slight wear from use and age; minor marks consistent with its age; one missing bolt has been replaced with a non-period bolt (see photos).
