Fragment Of A Late-gothic Tempera Painting From A Ceiling In Cremona
A splendid fragment of a late Gothic Cremonese ceiling made of painted poplar. The upper panel depicts the punishment of a vain woman (a harpy defecates on her head while she gazes at herself in a mirror, according to the iconography of Taddeo di Bartolo’s “Last Judgment” at the Collegiate Church of San Gimignano). The lower panel is decorated with floral motifs. Cremona, first half of the 15th century.
