Giuseppe Cappè – Male Figure In Polychrome Ceramic

Giuseppe Cappè – Polychrome Ceramic Male Figure: A polychrome ceramic sculpture by the artist Giuseppe Cappè (1921–2008), depicting a young gentleman seated on a tree trunk, portrayed in a pensive and amused pose as he holds a small flower between his fingers. The figure is characterized by the artist’s characteristic ironic and caricatural style: the highly expressive face, the elegant and slightly theatrical pose, and the great attention to detail in the clothing lend the work liveliness and personality.Particular attention has been paid to the details of the suit, the bow tie, the hands, and the naturalistic elements of the base. Several books are also depicted at the figure’s feet, a detail that further enriches the composition and its narrative character. The delicate polychrome in pastel tones and the glazed surface are characteristic of Cappè’s work; he is known for his ceramic figures modeled with great imagination and expressiveness.Artist: Giuseppe Cappè (1921–2008)Material: glazed polychrome ceramicHeight: 21 cmDepth: 12 cmPeriod: second half of the 20th century.
