We are offering this beautiful Expressionist painting by Czech artist Vendula Ratajová.

Details about the artwork and the artist.
Oil on plywood panel.

Painting style: The work of Vendula Ratajová (born in 1945 in Prague) is deeply influenced by Fauvism and artists such as Henri Matisse. It features a vibrant color palette, a generous application of paint in broad brushstrokes, and expressive contours.
Recurring themes: The painter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU).
Her figurative compositions are very often inspired by the world of theater, café scenes, dancers, and the commedia dell’arte (characters such as Pierrot and Colombine).
This painting perfectly captures that theatrical and melancholic atmosphere through a pair of female and male figures seated at a table.

Please note a very small hole in the panel, about the size of a match head on the front, which has caused a splinter of wood to break off on the back; however, it is truly nothing significant (see photo of this area circled in white).
