Round Bedside Table With Marquetry In The Louis XV–louis XVI Transitional Style.
An elegant round nightstand with marquetry, in the Louis XV–Louis XVI Transition style, dating from the early 20th century.
This high-quality piece features remarkable marquetry work depicting small flowers arranged in a geometric pattern of lozenges, accented by fine contrasting wooden fillets. This particularly refined design extends across the top, the band, and the intermediate shelf.
The circular top is surrounded by an elegant openwork brass rail.
The lower band opens at the front with a curved drawer, also richly inlaid with floral motifs, featuring a lovely drop-down bronze handle.
The piece rests on four slender legs, slightly curved at the bottom, joined by a circular crossbar also adorned with delicate floral marquetry.
The delicacy of the decoration, the harmony of the different wood species, and the elegance of its silhouette make this a very attractive accent piece, suitable for use as a nightstand, small coffee table, or side table.
