"pair Of Red Marble And Gilded Bronze Baluster Vases With Swan-shaped Handles" – Empire Style
An elegant pair of ornamental vases (cassolette) in red marble veined with white and gray, of the “Rouge Royal” or “Griotte” type, embellished with refined mercury-gilded bronze mounts. Each vase features a slender, ovoid body with a narrow neck and a removable lid topped by a finely chiseled pine cone finial. The two handles are shaped like swan necks, with engraved plumage and heads turned downward—an element of great visual impact. On the body, garlands of roses and leaves hang from a ribbon bow, featuring rich relief decoration. The vase rests on a pod-shaped cup foot in gilded bronze, which in turn is secured to a matching square marble plinth.
