Ten-light Empire-style Chandelier In Gilded Bronze And Patinated Sheet Metal
A chandelier known as the “Caryatid” model, this piece features three gilded bronze caryatids holding two lights at arm’s length. On the patinated sheet-metal band, three birds-of-prey heads hold a corolla of cascading light hanging from their beaks. At the top of the “bowl,” a frosted glass flame protects a tenth light. The bowl is connected to the crown at the top—composed of gilded bronze palmettes—by three gilded bronze chains. The underside of the “pot” is decorated with applied gilt-bronze palmettes. The electrical wiring is very recent, and the piece is in perfect working order.
