Antique Cane, Restored Around 1830, With A Silver Knob And A Shaft Made Of Malacca Rattan
An antique walking cane dating from the first half of the 19th century, around 1830, consisting of a Malacca rattan shaft topped by a large silver pommel crafted using repoussé and chiseled techniques.
The rounded pommel features an abundant decoration of scrollwork, foliage, and floral motifs in relief, in the style of the 18th century. The decoration extends across the entire pommel, alternating between smooth areas and finely ornamented sections.
The Malacca rattan shaft has a beautiful warm hue and retains its natural irregularities as well as signs of wear consistent with its age.
