Provenance: probably the collection of Émile Louis Dominique CALANDO (Passy, 1840 – Paris, 1898), as the drawing was found behind another drawing of the same dimensions and with the same mat from his collection, bearing his seal, also for sale at the gallery.
Note: The initials FRP appearing on the cross with a halberd could stand for Frater Reverendus Pater (Reverend Brother Father). The initials IDH stand for Iesus Deum Iesum Hominem (Jesus God, Jesus Man)
