A desk crafted in the Art Deco style

This desk allows you to compare a contemporary reproduction with an original Art Deco piece. Its wide, curved top and striped Macassar veneer give it a striking presence. The veneer’s pattern emphasizes the piece’s symmetry, while the polished finish highlights the contrast between the dark tones and the warm brown hues of the wood.

Commissioned in 2016, this desk echoes the forms of Art Deco furniture. Its date of manufacture is known thanks to its provenance. To appreciate the age of another piece of furniture, one must examine its construction, veneer, hardware, and signs of use together: the wood grain alone is not sufficient to date it.
