Galle Company (1904–1931) — Large Soliflore Vase With Blue Columbines
The vase is decorated with blue and purple columbines (Aquilegia) and foliage, etched in relief on a background of delicately shaded yellow and opalescent white glass. Its slender, baluster-shaped body rises from a circular pedestal and extends into a slightly flared neck.
The naturalistic floral composition and the multi-layered acid-etched decoration are characteristic of Gallé’s production in Nancy during the early decades of the 20th century, a period during which the studio continued Émile Gallé’s Art Nouveau style after his death in 1904.
Signed “Gallé” within the design.
