19th-century Spanish Bargueño
An important 19th-century Spanish bargueño, presented and sold with its supporting table.
The cabinet, made of walnut, blackened wood, and inlaid wood, is embellished with red tortoiseshell inlays and gilded bronze ornaments. Its front features six drawers arranged around a central, architecturally styled door, framed by small columns and adorned with a statuette of Athena. This door reveals four small interior drawers. The piece features a rich decoration of marquetry fillets, foliage motifs, rosettes, mascarons, and gilded bronze lock plates. An openwork gallery, punctuated by vases and crowned eagles, crowns the upper section.
The base table has a rectangular top made of dark wood, decorated with geometric marquetry and accented by a frieze alternating between blackened wood and bone inlays. It rests on four twisted turned legs, joined by an elegant, curved crossbar.
