Bulgarian Royal Air Force pilot’s insignia, from the period of the Kingdom of Bulgaria, circa 1935–1940.
The insignia features a richly detailed design: a royal crown at the top, a silver laurel and oak wreath, a golden eagle in flight against a background of radiant blue enamel, and a red enamel shield bearing the Bulgarian lion at the bottom.
The reverse features a screw-fastening system with a retaining plate. The elements on the reverse bear inscriptions in Cyrillic, including the mark of Strahil Miloshev’s workshop in Sofia, as well as the number “3-23-89.”
