A painter, draftsman, watercolorist, and sculptor, Sylvain Bronkart trained in painting at the École Saint-Luc in Liège. He began his career in a minimalist style reminiscent of Dufy’s. Beginning in 1948, his work became more refined and stylized.
A member of the Cobra movement in 1949, he evolved toward lyrical abstraction during the 1960s.
His works are held in museums in Liège and Ostend.
