Revolving Two-tier Table In Mahogany And Brass With Turned Colonnettes. English Work. Circa 190

This revolving table features two square tops in varnished mahogany, each underlined with a fine brass fillet around the edge. The tops are connected by a series of turned and tapered colonnettes, in the manner of English revolving bookcases. The whole pivots on a central quadripod base with arched legs, characteristic of small Edwardian freestanding furniture.

This type of revolving library table is emblematic of English work around 1900, between Victorian tradition and Edwardian taste: dark patinated mahogany, finely turned colonnettes and discreet brass highlights. An occasional piece both practical and refined, designed to display books and objects within reach.

Condition report: Good general condition. Mahogany with a fine original glossy patina, even brass fillets, functional revolving mechanism; some possible marks of use inherent to age. An occasional table full of charm, perfect beside a reading chair or as a side table to a sofa.
