Henry Cheffer is particularly famous for his scenes of everyday life in Brittany, his seascapes, and his folkloric and religious scenes.

This work depicts the famous Pardon de Notre-Dame de Tronoën in Saint-Jean-Trolimon with great finesse and skill. It depicts the majestic 15th-century Gothic chapel and a crowd of worshippers in traditional Bigouden costumes, gathered around the Calvary, bathed in soft light.
