A painter, printmaker, and illustrator, Jean Terles studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in Lucien Simon’s studio, then at the Casa Velasquez. After the war, he associated with artists such as Yves Brayer and Jean Dubuffet. He became a professor of composition and art history at the Gobelins Manufactory, where he taught until 1976.
