Restoration-era Mirror Stamped "thomas" On Rue De Seine
Small mirror made of wood and stucco gilded with gold leaf.
Its four corners are adorned with palmette and cornucopia motifs typical of the Romantic period.
This mirror from the Restoration period (circa 1820) is stamped twice on the back with “Thomas rue de Seine No. 5.”
Archival records show that the gilder named Thomas was established on Rue de Seine starting in 1805 (initially at No. 21).
The mercury-coated mirror has a beautiful patina, reflecting a past steeped in history.
