Empire-style Clock In Gilded Bronze
A First Empire-era clock in gilded and chiseled bronze, featuring an allegory of music in the form of a young man in classical attire or a winged genius, surrounded by the lyre—an attribute of Apollo and of music— a pomegranate, a vase, and an oil lamp—symbols of fertility and abundance. The base features a frieze with putti, plant motifs, vases, and swans facing each other.
The dial features recessed Roman numerals and steel hands; the mechanism, with a wire pendulum, is in working order.
Fortunately, this ceremonial clock has retained its original gilding, with only a few signs of wear.
